The Screw press turns household waste into valuable biogas
ALLRECO has successfully commissioned a machine for Dordtech. The Dutch plant manufacturer has installed a recycling plant for household waste in the Slovakian town of Hincovce. In addition to pre-shredding and various screening technologies, the core of the plant is the solid-liquid separation and pressing of the biogenic fraction from the pre-treated household waste. The background to this is that the liquid phase is to be used for biogas production.
Once again, the stationary screw press "DSP 205" from ALLRECO was able to demonstrate its advantages in this environment and impress across the board. The press, which consists of two main elements, the mixing hopperand the pressing unit, offers the advantage that films and plastics pass through the unit without further shredding. This offers the great advantage that the liquid phase is virtually free of plastic impurities, which in turn is very important for biogas production in a fermenter and the subsequent utilization of the fermentation product.
If fermentation does not take place on site and the fermentable fraction has to be transported over a longer distance, no process water is added. For on-site fermentation, to ensure better pumpability of the liquid phase and better drainage in the press, process water or liquid waste materials are mixed into the mixing hopper of the machine.
