An important Contribution to the Circular Economy

4/29/2024

Compost processing of biogenic waste is more important than ever before: the efficient processing of biowaste and green waste enables a circular economy that benefits the environment. New, versatile and high-quality soil conditioners for agriculture, horticulture and soil production are obtained from natural resources. Fuel for energy use is also produced as a valuable by-product.

Reconciling Quality and Standards

New legal requirements are constantly increasing the demands on the quality of the products produced and therefore the demands on composting. The machine combinations used can vary greatly depending on the nature of the material and the recycling situation. Whether biowaste or green waste composting - the individually adapted and fully thought-out treatment process is crucial. This is what we have currently implemented for the Da-Di plant in the biowaste sector.

New Centerpiece at the Da-Di-Plant: ALLRECO Windsifter AirLift

The Darmstadt-Dieburg district's own facility and environmental management company had set itself ambitious goals for its site in Semd: to improve its end product, fine compost, and reduce its disposal volume while at the same time ensuring that the limit value for foreign substances can still be adhered to. This was achieved with the ALLRECO AirLift as the new centerpiece of the overall system. The technology and possible separation quality of the air separator were convincing both during the demonstration and during the test run in the stationary technical center to illustrate the separation quality.

Individual and fully thought-out Treatment Process

For the best possible result, the ALLRECO AirLift was perfectly integrated into the overall system. A Doppstadt AK 510 ensures the superior shredding of the delivered biowaste before the coarse material is separated in a Doppstadt SM 518E. The fines are fed via the side belt of the screening machine to the disc distributor, which ensures even material distribution over a 2 m belt width and feed to the wind sifter. The AirLift efficiently extracts the films and light materials and conveys them pneumatically into a filter container, where they are separated from the air and collected. The cleaned biowaste is transported via a conveyor belt to the composting hall for composting.

As defined in advance: Top Results during Operation

Following the commissioning of the ALLRECO Air-Lift wind sifter and optimization of the entire plant, the biowaste processing system now has a film removal rate of at least 80 percent from the input stream. In addition, the material to be disposed of has been reduced from 5 to 1.5 percent, as previously defined. We are delighted to have increased the efficiency of the Da-Di Semd plant as an important part of the circular economy with this customized solution.
